To provide a world quality elementary education to children in remote locations with or without internet, by using the Personalised Learning method. This combines best practice computer based learning, with one-on-one tuition and our curricular management. We will provide this service to those who can pay (The Flying Teachers) and endeavour to extend this to those who can not (The Flying Teachers Foundation).
Casper Pieters studied science and has worked as an ecologist in Australia and the Pacific. Later in life he became a secondary science and maths teacher and has taught these subjects in mainstream schools. He has further specialised in the teaching of gifted children and has extensive experience in digital learning modalities.
In 2011 he realised that with the advent of the internet, a full education can be provided to children living in remote situations away from quality schooling. He is passionate about this and has sought out numerous associations with educational publishers, educators and researchers to accomplish this. It is important to him that the computer based learning is blended with direct human face-to-face support to make for a balanced education. Casper has an extensive Personal Learning Network that keeps abreast with latest breakthroughs in online distance education.
Alieska Manintveld is a qualified primary school/ remedial teacher and child counsellor.
She has been the director of De Leesplank, a Dutch language school in Melbourne, for over 14 years. She has extensive experience catering for the individual learning needs of children. She has specialised in special learning abilities. Alieska grew up as an expat child and understands the unique circumstances in which children may obtain an education outside the norm.
Alieska and Casper taught their own child, Sophie, in remote Fiji, where quality schooling was absent. When they returned to Australia, Sophie was well ahead of her peers and easily blended back into the main schooling system.
Casper and Alieska are the core of the management team of The Flying Teachers. We receive excellent support from our educational publishers, who provide the online learning platforms, valuable input from our educational advisors to keep up with curricular and e-learning developments and of course the wonderful contributions from our in-house teachers and tutors.
